Professor Paul Chow
Professor Paul Chow of electrical and computer engineering is the Dusan and Anne Miklas Chair in Engineering Design. Professor Chow received the B.A.Sc. degree with honours in Engineering Science, and the M.A.Sc. and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ont., in 1977, 1979 and 1984, respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto in January 1988. His research interests include high performance computer architectures, architectures and compilers for embedded processors, VLSI systems design, and field-programmable gate array architectures, systems, and applications.
The Dusan and Anne Miklas Chair in Engineering Design recognizes the impact and importance of technology in everyday life. The chair is the driving force behind initiatives to develop new hardware and software at U of T, focusing specifically on the feasibility of computer designs and applications. In 1999, alumnus, philanthropist and founder of Invar Development Corporation Dusan Miklas gave $1 million, which the university matched to endow the chair.
